Preventing Razor Burn on Genital Area

You are more apt to end up with a razor burn in your genital area because it is a sensitive area and the hair is much thicker. Here are some tips on how you can prevent this from happening:

  • Try using a shaving cream or gel that moisturizes your skin. Stay away from those that have alcohol listed on the label. Look for products with hydrating ingredients such as glycerin, shea butter, goat's milk and oils.
  • Trim first. If your hair is very long, you should trim it before you bring a razor into the area. Some people use a guard such as a bikini trimmer.
  • Use a high quality razor. Getting a razor burn because you used a disposable razor is not worth the money you think you are saving.
  • Try to be gentle even if you have to go over an area more than once. Don't use really hot water and make sure you rinse off your blade as you go. Rinse off your skin with cool water when you are finished.
