How to Stay Home from School

Are you wondering staying at home instead of going to school today? Perhaps you haven’t finished your homework, feel too lazy to go to school or don’t want to attend gym classes. However, dad or mom always is the first person who forces you to go to school, and how to persuade them becomes the biggest problem that you are facing. Here are some ways of talking with your parents and faking a sickness, and reading the article will help you knowing more about how to stay home from school.

Have a Talk with Your Parents

Ask for Their Permission

You can’t always assume that you will get what you want. Regardless of the reason why you want to stay home from school, you can ask you parents if it is alright with them. Find some time when they seem to be in a good mood because if you ask them when they are having a bad mood, they may not listen to you. If they are already getting off to work and you ask them then, they are not likely to agree to your plan. Prepare yourself for a “no” answer. Your parents may not allow you to skip school, unless there is a good reason to do so.

Promise to Do Chores

If you want to know how to stay home from school, you should try to compromise with your parents. They may allow you to stay home if you offer to do some laundry, clean the house, or wash the dishes. If they agree to the compromise, you should make sure you follow through or your parents may not trust you again. If you go ahead and do the chores, your parents may come to see that you are a responsible person and you will have an easier time dealing with your parents at a future date.

Just Tell the Truth

You may have other reasons for escaping from school even if you are not sick, such as you are bullied by someone or you feel uncomfortable with a certain teacher. Under such a circumstance, you should talk to your parents about it. They may force you to go to school regardless but they may also be helpful in solving the problem.

Fake an Illness

If you really don’t want to go to school and honesty won’t help, faking sick is an effective way to stay home from school. Try these tactics:

1. Cold or Flu

Having a pretend case of the cold or the flu can get you out of school. Your parents may choose to keep you out of school in order to avoid infecting the teachers and your fellow students. Here is what you should do:

  • Take a bunch of tissues and blow your nose in them. Place them on the floor or the stand by your bed.
  • Try to breathe just through the mouth so that your parents will believe you have a stuffy nose and shouldn’t go to school.
  • If they cannot see you because they are elsewhere in the house, you can slightly hold your nose when talking so you sound more stuffed up than you really are.
  • If you want to know how to stay home from school, try to sneeze as loud as you can, and then allow your nose to run while your parents can see you. you can also pretend to sneeze when they aren’t around you but can hear the sneezes.
  • Tell your parents that your bones are hurting or that you are feeling a great deal of aches and pains all around your body. They will think you have the flu and will let you stay home.

2. Fever

If you have been a good actor and they believe you might really be sick, expect that they will want to take your temperature for real. You need to be prepared for this and act fast so you can fake a good fever. Here’s what you do:

  • Tell your parents you need to use the restroom before they get out the thermometer.
  • Take a cup with you and fill it with warm or hot water. Drink the water and rinse out your mouth with it, especially in the area beneath your tongue. This will cause the temperature of your mouth to go up and it will look like you have a fever.
  • Flush the toilet before turning on the water so your parents believe that you have gone to the bathroom.
  • Remember that this technique only works if your temperature is checked by mouth. If your parents have an ear thermometer, try to hold a light bulb or other hot object to your ear before your temperature is taken.
  • Try to get a temperature that is above 99 degrees Fahrenheit or 37 degrees Celsius. Anything below that doesn’t constitute a fever and if the temperature is greater than 103, you may find yourself going to the doctor’s office instead of staying at home.

3. Migraine

Migraine headaches are easy to fake because there are no obvious signs of a migraine and your parents will not be able to tell if you really have a migraine or not. Just be aware of these symptoms:

  • You should be very sensitive to sounds and light so you should pretend to be bothered by them.
  • Place your hands on your forehead on occasion and act like it hurts.
  • Tell them you are suffering from dizziness and that you can’t see too well. Walk very slowly, stop all of a sudden, let your eyes close and pretend you are trying to regain your balance.
  • Tell your parents that they should keep their voice down as it bothers you.
  • If you want to know how to stay home from school, you should take a nap with the lights off or lie down on a couch so they think you are sick.

4. Diarrhea

This is a great technique to try just after eating breakfast. All you need to do is suddenly rush to the bathroom and stay there awhile. If you have room spray, spray it to cover up the “odor”. Be sure to flush the toilet.
